I hoping to find a DVD <$250 with the following (to connect to my new Infocus X1):
Progressive Scan PAL/NTSC
Onboard DTS Decoder
Multizone
Component connections
Any help would be appreciated, as at the moment I can only connect using S-Video because my Philips DVD 736k does not have Progressive Scan (therefore my X1 will not recognise it when I connect via the Component-VGA)
Thanks.

The cheaper players uaually have PAL, or NTSC but not both, and you will be battling to get a DTS decoder for that price.
P.S Don't buy an el-cheapo. It's not worth it.

I bought a Pioneer DV-466-S http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/home%5Fentertainment/dvdplayersandrecorders/dv466/
for $188 from JB-HiFi (it was the last of their stock at the time; I saw them again recently for $249). It has everything you are after except multizone; I haven't looked for a work-around as I usually just use region 4 DVDs. BUT it does PAL/NTSC, DTS, progressive scan, component output.

Hi Action. I have just checked the DV466 stats ,They say only NTSC progressive scan, and DTS out NOT onboard decoder. I hope the JB guys ar'nt pulling your leg!!!
I hope i'm wrong. get back to me.
PS. are you in sydney
That Pioneer model does not do PAL Progressive Scan, it only does NTSC Progressive Scan.
I believe one of the current ninatus models does PAL Progressive Scan as well as NTSC and has the other features you are after.
And just a warning don’t listen to the sales staff at most electronic shops they will tell u that most DVD players are PAL Progressive Scan when there not.

Some salespeople,do not tell the whole truth, some just don't know, if in doubt,go to the MFG's web site and check out the stat. sheet.

Toshiba SD530E does PAL/NTSC progressive scan and does Dolby Digital/DTS onboard decoding.

Thank you all.......I have found the guys in the 'big' stores know jack shite.
As it turns out, I may be able to use my Philips DVD-736k, as the Infocus X1 i'm connecting it to will do the progressive scanning for me if I connect it via Component-S Video cable.

Thanks guys. Unfortuately the Yamaha dosen't have onboard decoder and the sd530e has not had good reviews.
Looking at the Zensonic, but don't know if its progressive scan is PAL/NTSC.

I just bought the Sony 575 for $170. Progressive PAL & NTSC, and region free
out of the box. Really nice unit. My first new DVD player for nearly 5
years, puts my old player - an OMNI - to shame. I guess the only thing extra
I would've liked would be MPEG4 support.
Take care,
