Hi Guys,
Has anyone seen this TV at Kmart for $1548
I am on a very tight budget, $2000 max for a decent size tv >86cm.
I did a google search but the best I could find was a Phillips maganvox tv. Is maganvox in any way related to Phillips??
Does anyone have any more background on the maganvox brand, or am i best to stick with something like a LG or samsung for about $2000.
Anyway, here are the specs, and a pic
http://www.kmart.com.au/catalogue/
109cm rear projection colour TV* •100Hz digital scan •Surround sound •Rear and side AV inputs •Multi system (PAL, NTSC) digital dynamic focus •DVD component input •S-video input •Teletext •2 year warranty. MRP43
I think it is also HD ready.
I need some advice soon guys, the euro cup soccer is starting in one week
Cheers

Yeah Maganvox is owned by Phillips, but don't let that fool you, the Magnavox range generally is pretty poor in terms of there TV's(I recently had to pick up a 51cm from Kmart, and there was a Magnavox 68cm for only $80 more--but it wasn't even worth it at that price--$280). This one may be better as I haven't seen it, but LG/Conia have a sub 2k RP TV which would probably be a better set.
And for that money Palsonic have a 76cm HD WS iirc, though I guess sheer size is your preference...?

Yeah at the moment I am willing to overlook a bit of quality over quantity. Currently have a decent Sony Trinitron, just not big enough.

I was interested in this too. I rang Mistral, which is the distributer for this product. They were very helpful. They explained that this is not a Philips Magnavox. It is produced by a Chinese company (surprise, surprise), and that the company was called Hung Hing (sp?). Of course they believed the quality was very good. The chap told me they he was most surprised Kmart was slling them so cheaply - they though $2,500 was what would be asked!
That's s bit optimistic. I took the safe route, eshewed the Kmart offer, & bought a similarly specified non HD 109 cm 4:3 Toshiba this arvo for $2,000.

I bought one and appears to be easy to use
hooked up dvd player, satellite and play-station......works great first time
Video is good
It is HD compliant
60MHz progressive scan besides 100MHz.....definitely flicker free and compared against 72cm TV (50MHz)
nice feature you can hook you pc to the MRP43
Sound
Better than normal TV
SRS
I see how it goes when its run in for a couple of weeks
