Just a heads up. http://www.cd-wow.com has the first season Blake's
Seven at 19.99 pounds including free delivery worldwide. I ordered
last Friday, got a sent notice yesterday (Sunday) and received it
today! Service. They even charged me in Aussie dollars ($53.38) so
the bank doesn't get its usual FX fees. OK, so they don't give the
best exchange rate, still good value.

Oh yeah, I have no affiliation whatsoever with cd wow, but prices and
delivery like that deserve to be plugged.

Is this the version with the video errors in that wouldn't play on a
lot of DVD players?

I saw this special on CD-WOW about a month-and-a-half ago but was
reluctant to purchase it based on the negative comments regarding
Series 1 not playing in DVD players. This was before they fixed the
problems..

Next time, check the HK version of the site before you buy
(http://www.cd-wow.com.hk); due to the exchange rate, things are
sometimes cheaper this way.

Local release date is apparently 8th July and will cost $119.95 - so if
the cd-wow version is ok then that's quite a saving!

Thats unreal! - is it R2 only or R2/R4?

Cheers,

The HK site doesn't always have the same titles in stock. e.g. they
don't have Blakes 7, but I agree they are usually cheaper.

Have you noticed the Aussie site says Region 4 but lists Region 2
DVD's.

Is there anyway to search or list Region 4 DVD's on any of the sites?
I only stumble across them by chance.

The R2 is dual coded R2/R4.

Works fine on my Samsung V6500 player.

I always do. The HK site seems to offer specials that don't last
long. eg All four Red Dwarf series are listed at HK$190, but I got
series 4 from them at HK$115.

It's strange they don't list on the HK site it as my copy was shipped
from Hong Kong.

Sadly Peter, I can confirm that the Blake's 7 version at CD-WOW is the
one with the layer change problems. I received my set just this week
(ordered last week).

Oh dear, I suspected it probably would be. It's ashame your post
didn't arrive 10 hours earlier, as I've gone ahead and bought the set
from CD-WOW today. I'll check it on my DVD player when it arrives and
see if it plays up. If there are any errors, I'll return it to CD-WOW
on the day it arrives - they have a 14 day return period and will
refund postage costs, but I noticed they impose a 1.50 pound
re-stockment levy - so I guess by the end i'll be out of pocked
$3-4.00.

Still, if it works **and it might**, I've saved myself between
$60-80.00 *AUD*.

Not to worry.

Just exactly where does this error show up?

According to the DVD review at:

http://www.anorakzone.com/Blake/frames.html

"Moans? There's some problem with layer changes. I can't claim I've
sat and watched all thirteen again, but Space Fall may cause some
players to temporarily pause around the halfway mark."

Hope it helps

Don't forget, that all it does is freeze/pause at the layer change. You
can fast forward with the player, which sort of ends up just slowly
stepping through the frames of the layer change and then continue
playing normally. It interrupts the flow for about 2-5 seconds, but
that's all. I'm thinking I might keep the set, copy them and fix the
problems that way. Still ends up much cheaper :)

So, it's just this one episode ("Space Fall") that is affected?

I guess a 2-5 second pause isn't that bad.. A friend has offered to
fix up the section for me. Would have been nice if they'd got it
right from the beginning?

It's likely my player a Toshiba SD-2500 won't experience any difficult
with this disc, so maybe I'm jumping the gun.
