I know this has been discussed before, but technologioes change all the time...
For a budget under 10k, what are the main advantages of a projector over plasma TV, and vice versus.
Thanks!

The main advantage of Plasma is daytime viewing, but is tiny when compared to a 100" screen.
Check out the new range of LCD projectors 500E or PJ-TX100, both under $3K, both with excellent pictures.

Cheers for that completely on topic comment trevor :)
A good projector will be bigger and cheaper. Im generally refering to DLP, but its not to say theres not some good LCD machines too. Plasmas are very bad at grey scale. projectors are much better at representing all the shades of colours, so fine shading and shadow detail are significantly better. Most have a better contrast, and they certainly have more depth and vitality to the picture. Picture wise, A good projector will slaughter a plasma set, plus the impact of a bigger image is to me what seeing movies should be like.
But there are downsides. Plasmas tend to have a higher resolution that projectors. You need a dark room. you will never get a black any deeper than how dark the room is. then there is bulb replacement. the average is every two years, with say a movie a night. They aren't really a replacement for a Television. Plus to get the most of it you also have to invest in a good screen.
