I saw this in the paper, and obviously for the price is is not a High-Definition TV. Are non-High-Definition widescreens any better in terms of pixels than a regular TV. Would a DVD playing on an 80cm 4:3 TV (which has close to a 76cm diagonal measurement from black bar to black bar) look the same as a non-HD 76cm widescreen?

if the RCA set has a component input and tour DVD player a component output you should get a much improved picture, even with standard def. but it all depends on the connections.

Do you reckon the RGB dots that make up the screen would be of a smaller size or the same size as a regular TV. eg. if you hold a magnifying glass up to a computer monitor it has much smaller pixels (I hope that's the correct name) than a regular TV, and if you look at the pixels on a 26 inch TV from the 70's they're quite large.

I guess the easiest thing to do would be to go down there with a magnifying glass in my pocket and see for myself (assuming they're not sold out already).

A better Idea Diceman, ask the salesperson for the resolution,if it is 480x640 (standard def.) and has component in,you will get a much better picture. TV eqiv. is 372x544

I went down and checked them out, (they wheeled off 3 in the 5 mins I was standing there). It was standard definition and had SCART and S-Video in, the picture quality wasn't significantly better than a 4:3 TV, for the money it's probably better to invest in an 80cm 4:3 TV. My plan is to wait a few years or so and get a high definition TV, and make do with a cheap new or secondhand 68cm or larger 4:3 TV in the meantime.
