View Full Version : AV Receiver with DVI ports
Does anyone know of a good AV receiver that has DVI ports (both in and out) along with all the other types of connectors (s-video, component and so on)?

Well I have a PC with DVI output and a DVD player with DVI output and a
projector with DVI input. With a receiver that allows at least 2 DVI inputs
I can switch either source to the projector. Ideally some receivers may well
upscale all inputs to DVI one day.

Damn.... Wish I could get a look at the back panel or a manual. There's no mention of DVI on the web site which is strange, you'd think they'd make a big deal out of it - it does have i/link for SACD but that's different....
I've googled it but only hit on the 9000ES DVD player. Haven't found a thing about DVI... Where did you find out about this?
EDIT:
Okay found it, hard one to track down, It was presented at some hi end home theatre show last year where Sony presented.
David Bent, director, home audio products discussed the new Sony ES receiver line, including the top of the line STR-DA9000ES ($4,500 - available in Fall 2003). The 9000 features two hundred watts per channel, three-zone multi-room operation, "digital drive" amplifiers, 9.1 channel support, DVI-HDTV input and a new touch screen remote which David states is as easy to use as an ATM. To continue this report in English, please PRESS 1. "

Its strange that I can't find it on Sony's website. Note sure if you could buy it over here either. An online site has a good breakdown of its capabilities here (http://www.oade.com/Home_theater/sony/sony_es/str-da9000es.html)

Yes yes very nice. Rather pricey, but aren't all the good ones?
I agree - not enough pre's on the market. i-link for SACD is nice too. Too bad my player hasn't got i-link :P
It's a very good sign for the future anyway. Hmmm I wonder if they pass their OSD through the DVI out as well.

Wouldn't you term Sony's top of the range receiver as good? It's pretty much got everything except the kitchen sink, and in all the reviews I read everyone was very impressed with the audio side of things.

Just ignore Miro, he's nothing more than back ground radiation at the best
of times. Most advice he gives though is good.........If you do the exact
opposite.

Its just a low end consumer amp. Its 100% more expensive in AU than the rest
of the world and is only about 5% the price of the most expensive systems in
the world.

I can tell by your enormous prosperity that ignoring me is a trade
advantage.
