hi all,

I was interested in this title, dvdpacific list it as being DS-SL and only 1 ratio of 1.85:1 so I assumed this meant it was a flipper so I didn't order it.

However I then read the specs on amazon and it states it has both 1.33 and 1.85 ratios and doesn't state if it is DS-SL or SS-DL.

What I mainly want to know is, is it a flipper or not?

So can someone please tell me the specs of this DVD (please note I am not talking about the superbit release).

Also if someone has compared the picture quality of this release and the superbit one can you please comment on it. Is the superbit much better or not really different?

thanks

death - the original Johnny Mnemonic was one of the first studio releases back in 1998 or so. A bit of a poor effort.

Going from recollection (I've since got rid of it) - The disc is dual sided, single layer, but not technically a flipper - the whole movie in widescreen anamorphic is on one side, and on the other is a pan & scan version. The quality of the print is quite poor, with print flaws showing (scratches or hairs, specks, marks) sometimes. Also the colours looked a bit muddy and dark - not as sharp as it should have been.

I haven't seen the superbit, because the movie didn't really do much for me, but surely they would have cleaned up the transfer for it.
