View Full Version : FS (I think) Pioneer Plasma (2 years old)

I have a chance to get a new Plasma through work if I switch my business to
a new Telco, and the cost of the Plasma is built into the phone calls,
basically if I sign a 5 year deal they throw in the plasma.
I have a 2 year old Pioneer 50" PDP 503HD which I am thinking of
selling...the missus wants it in the kids room, but I think getting the cash
would be a better option :)
The original cost back then was $19,099 including stand etc (makes you cry
when you see how much I paid for it!!!) however the new ones are $13,000.
I live in Sydney (Northern Beaches) if anyone wanted to check it out, it
works great, (with High definition etc) but this offer is to good to refuse.
So I am open to offers, if I do not get a reasonable offer then I guess the
kids will have a good playstation screen.
Any serious offers you can email direct nick@fmw.com.au

I would have thought signing up to any telco for 5 years would be about as
dumb as it could get.
How smart are you on the scale of 1 to 10 as a business person?
You must be one amazing guy to be able to predict prices and deals for the
next five years with other telcos.
It is not only the blind that cannot see.

How much do you know about financial management ZILCH
I would love to see the contract to what a fabulous deal this is NOT

Pretty sure the ATO would be interested in this scheme.
The ATO are targeting funny money shops next financial year.

5 years is an eternity when it comes to telcos and TV technology/prices.
You'll be locked into what will become a very high price with the telco...
and the TV will rapidly devalue to almost zilch in 5 years. Not such a
great deal perhaps?

perhaps "great deal" was a bit over the top, but the deal is OK, if you can
handle the lock in period pf 3 years.
but, to get a $13,000 plasma you need to earn $26,000 pre tax.
yes you are locked in for 3 years ( I said 5 before, but it should have been
3 years, and I get a call rate of 12c, currently paying about 14.5c, I am
only talking local calls on this deal, all other costs like line rental stay
with Telstra. I am only buying 3 years of call credits.
Yes if Telstra drop the call charges below 12c then this may impact, but it
would have to drop substantially to outweigh the pre-tax value of a Pioneer
Plasma retailed at $13,000 remembering you have to earn $26,000 before tax
to buy one outright.
I take your point on it being worth Nil in 5 years time, but if I paid for
it outright it would still be worth Nil in 5 years time, this way, my
monthly phone bill is going to remain pretty much exactly the same, however
I have Plasma screen as well.
Obviously these guys have bought call credits from Telstra for a very low
price, and must be sourcing the plasma screens at near to cost price to make
the deal work for them, but it is a win/win situation for a 3 year period.

But you have not told us what brand and model the plasma is?
You can buy cheap plasmas for $4-5K these days - but I wouldn't guarantee
they will still be operating in three years ...

it is the upgraded model to the one I am selling ie retail value $13,000 50"
Pioneer, so I am pretty sure with a 5 year warranty they now offer that it
will still be operating.
