View Full Version : Sonic Youth on RAGE
It's no wonder I never got into their songs before, coz after having heard
their "rendition" (in BIG quotation marks) of Robert Palmer's Addicted To
Love, I felt like I was watching Red Faces all over again. I don't know how
anyone finds these no-hopers appealing, but I felt like crying out "Gong
'em, Red!" about twenty seconds into the song. She couldn't carry a note in
a wheelbarrow and (I suppose purposely) was out of sync with the original
lyrics. And before you fans of S.Y start flaming me and say "let's see if
you can do better" ... trust me, I can.

No, that was Ciccone Youth :-)
And it was shitful, but you get that.
They have a fair amount of indulgent "experimental" material, but when
they get it it right they are awesome.

Agreed. I admit they are an acquired taste. (the palmer song I believe was a
tongue in cheek rendition and yes, complete shitful btw).
Took me a while to appreciate SY, but IMHO they are brilliant.

No I don't think he does, at least not the reasons why.

Yup in the early to mid 90s they were a great band, Daydream Nation in
particular is a masterpiece.
