Can anyone help me. My Real Player does not work. The problem is whenever I click it, it does not open. I try opening up a real player audio or video and they just never open. It is not opening up for some reason. I deleted it at first, then I downloaded another one and it still does not work?

Does Real Player start if you go through Start --> Programs --> Real --> ...? Or is the problem with double-clicking files, or running Real media in a web browser?

OK, here are some steps to help you remove your existing RealPlayer more throughly than Add/Remove Programs. All this assumes that you have no Real-related data you need to keep, and also that there are no other Real-related programs like RealJukebox on your computer. Do as much or as little as you are comfortable with.
Go ahead and remove RealPlayer through Add/Remove Programs. Reboot.
Once your computer has rebooted, click on Start --> Programs etc. and look for a "Real" program folder. If it is still there, right-click and choose "Delete". Also, delete any RealPlayer shortcut icons on your desktop.
Set your Windows Explorer preferences to display all files. Go to Control Panel --> Folder Options --> View --> Show hidden files and folders --> Accept.
Look for the following folders on your hard drive and remove them:
C:\Program Files\Real
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real
Clean out the contents of the following folders, but do not delete the folders themselves:
C:\Windows\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp
Go into the Windows registry and delete the following keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RealNetworks
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\RealNetworks
Do not do this if you are not comfortable doing so.
Reboot the computer.
Temporarily disable any antivirus software you have running. Right-clicking a little taskbar icon near the clock will often let you do this.
Reinstall RealPlayer.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help fix the problem. Let me know how it goes.

ok......i did it.

Damn, didn't work.

Also when I went to uninstall it through add/remove programs an error came up saying

"Uninstaller component missing."

so then i went to real player in start, programs and the same error came up when i went to uninstall it from there.

Also when I went to delete common files there was one file that could not be deleted.

The only thing I did not do was deleting the registry keys. I dont even know where they are?

"Uninstaller component missing" -- I will have to look into that one.

Common Files -- Which file refuses to delete?

Registry -- Open up a Command Prompt and type "regedit". You will be greeted with a display that looks much like the Windows Explorer. The items that I told you to delete appear on the left side, the ones that look like folders. Be careful with the Registry Editor, because you can screw up your system if you delete or change the wrong things.
