Hi All,, I have been at this stupid thing for the last 48 hours and I can't get my computer to recognise my New pioneer 107
My computer is a AMD 2700 with a ABit Va 10 M/Board,I have tried deleting the second IDE and nothing, then reinstalling drivers for M/board,also switching it to slave and cable select and still nothing, and all this time my LG dvd rom is still working
I took the pioneer out and installed it on another computer and it was recognized, but on mine it won't happen
I have checked the Bios and the settings are on Auto
I really would appreciate some Help as I am just about to crack
Ps o/sWin XP Pro
Anne

Have you double checked the jumper settings on the pioneer? Try installing the pioneer by itself with no other drives on the same cable, also might be worth trying a different IDE cable.

I have ,and when I use it as a slave with the hardisk,it asks for a system disc
The 107 is OEM,it shouldn't make a difference? Would it?

That would seem like a jumper setting problem, try it with just your primary hard drive on the 1st IDE channel, and the Pioneer on the second IDE channel with no other drives attached and let us know the results. Also try using the IDE cable from the system that you tested the Pioneer in earlier in case the problem is cable related.

I tried as slave on hard disk ide, nothing
Tried as secondary Master nothing, even with different cables
What get's me is as soon as I plug the Lg in Xp installs it,I can't even eject the pioneer when it's connected
Any other options?
Has anyone heard of pioneer drives being incompatible with Abit motherboards?
Could it be a registry problem?
Thanks in advance

I have used the same drive and motherboard combo before and there are no problems with them working together. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by used as a slave on the hard disk IDE, have you had the drive installed by itself on one IDE channel and your hard drive by itself on the other IDE channel? If so what was the result? what jumper settings are you using on each of your devices?

Has the drive had its firmware upgraded at all? if not it might be worth putting it in the other pc and doing the firmware update, you can get the update from here http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/support.html make sure to select the correct model. The update runs from within windows and is very straightforward.

Sure. Go to this page and scroll down past all the "FW x.xx History" sections. There you will find the directions on what to do with that file. Basically, the .zip file contains an .exe file that you just run from within Windows, but the instructions go into more detail.

Hope this helps.

Hi Anne,

I have a Pioneer 107D OEM drive in a machine with an Intel P4 on a Giga-byte mother-board that works fine. OK a different set up to yours but I did buy one of the new "cylindrical" IDE cables to connect up my drives with.
This may be more to do with the 120 Gb hard drive than the DVD RW but I throw it in for what its worth.
