I am continually frustrated at the fact that many great titles, particularly in the EA series of games, have no online capability within Australia, while elsewhere in the world, this feature is enabled.

Two cases in point at EA's Fight Night 2004 and Tiger Woods 2004.

Why the hell are these features not included? There would appear to be no logical reason for it other that to make us purchase games that the big-wigs at Sony choose us to buy.

I want to play Fight Night online, but can't due to this!

Can anyone out there please explain their logic?

for most online games there needs to be a local server supplied by the distributor in order to take advantage of the online content. If the distributors wont supply a server then the online content is removed.

All EA Sports titles (NBA Live, Madden, NHL, Fight Night, Tiger Woods, MLB etc) have had their online sections removed from PAL releases and this will still be true in the 2005 versions.

Resident Evil Outbreak for the PS2 while not having had a PAL (Australian) release yet is also one title that has had the online features removed for the local release.

Thanks for the explanation on the server issue, however, the question still remains as to why they would not allow Australian's to participate on the international servers, similar to what happens on Everquest?

Second part to the question would be, why would they have not set up a local server for the release? I know that I am one person who will not purchase the game due not being able to play it online, however will "borrow a friends backup ;)" to have access to the game.

Surely sales revenues are being affected in some way by not enabling these features.

It is VERY frustrating!!

I'm sure they will set the EA sports area up as soon as they see that sufficent online adaptors have been sold for the PS2 in Australia. There are large costs involved and I'm sure that they would like to see that it will sustain itself before outlaying those costs.

ps2 online will never really get going over here xbox live has too much of a stronghold on the console online scene already. I would really like to play those two games online, also the new resident evil would be good. But once again the pal territories get screwed
