View Full Version : Nero Problem

Hi I am going crazy with this one.
I have Nero 6 the full version and paid extra money to get the DVD codecs.
When I do a capture from the Leadteck WinFast 2000 XP TV card, Nero cannot
capture the audio. All I get is a thumping noise through the speakers. The
settings are all correct. And I have been able to capture from Ulead Movie
Factory and from Ulead Video Studio 7, but the Nero just will not capture
the audio. I have written to Nero tech support, no replies and I have posted
this problem of a couple of other forums included www.videohelp.com and no
one seems to be able to come up with an answer although it seems that other
people have experianced the problem.. Anyone here have any clue why this is
happening.

But these are programs not devices.

Why not start from the beginning? When you save the TV to disc can you play
it?
It sounds like you are trying to use Nero as a capture device? It will do
this cameras but I don't know about TV cards.
Use Nero as a burning program only. Try and capture the TV to your HD
first. The TV card must have come with software to do that. Get it on HD
first and *then* worry about burning it after.

The settings are correct I have my audio as Line In and its line in, I have
the sound card configured according to the Nero settings and I have the tv
card configured to the Nero settings.

So is Nero...its a program to capture, author, edit and burn cd, dvd, ect
ect..both video and audio. Thats why I bought it.

No, because I cannot capture the audio with Nero.

Exactly, I am using the full Nero 6 version which has half a dozen
intergrated programs, one of them being NeroVision Express a capturing
program which you can capture from a TV card and then Edit the movie and
burn to DVD.

I have got the software from the TV card, I also have other software, but I
dont see why I should have my hard drive cluttered up with multiple programs
when Nero is supposed to do what I want it to. I just want to know what the
problem is so I can fix it.
Thanks for you help.

Yes, no problems and I can capture with Ulead Movie Factory and Ulead Video
Studio. Nero captures the video ok, just not the audio.

I am not a big fan of Nero Express but I have just opened it and had a bit
of a poke around. Just for you ;-)
When you open the capture screen at the bottom is a question mark with
More<< next to it. Click on it and expand the bottom of the screen. Have
you checked the box that says "Enable capture device audio playback" ?
Next to that you will see a box that gives the destination of the capture
file. So explain to me what the difference is between Nero filling your
hard drive up and you using another program *That came with you TV card" to
fill you hard drive up? You seemed a bit adverse to this in your reply.

If you already have the ability to capture then just use the program that
works. Using large programs to capture video is not always the best way to
go as they demand too much from the system which can reduce other processes
from running and increase CPU temp/load. The capture program that came with
the card should be your preference as it is device specific or tweaked to
perform with that card. Once the files are stored then use the encoder
program to convert to Vobs and Burn. (Nero is not all it's cracked up to be
by the way).
Another way to look at this is you don't need 2 hands to pick one nose. One
finger should suffice.
Regards Marcus.
Just tried it.
Can't get audio either.

Thankyou, you are a gentleman.

Yes that is clicked, and when I go into the Audio config there is a noise
like a thumping noise. I just wondered if there may be some sort of conflict
between Nero and the soundcard or something like that.

Probably because it is the program that came with my DVD recorder and it was
the one that was recommended to use, rather than the Win PVR, because of
that I stupidly paid more money over the iNet to update it to latest
version, so I guess I wanted to use it because otherwise I have just wasted
a lot of money. But never mind, I will use the Win PVR to capture and Nero
to burn as recommended. Thanks for your help.
