I heard on the radio that Target are selling a 6-disc box set of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy for $89.99. Not a bad effort, I'm tempted to go and buy it.
RRP price is AU$109.95.
Have a look:

$20 for a box that doesn't even look good? :rolling:

Shopping around the movies can be had individually for around $70. 2x$20 plus the $30 for ROTK

Can you rephrase that? I didn't understand a word... Twenty dollars for what box?

Here are the specs:

Lord Of The Rings - Trilogy (6 Disc Box Set)

Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship Of The Ring

Fate Has Chosen Him. A Fellowship Will Protect Him. Evil Will Hunt Them.

In a time before history, in a place named Middle-earth, a dark and powerful lord has brought together the forces of evil to destroy its cultures and enslave all life caught in his path. Sauron's time has come and he needs only one small object, a Ring that has been lost for centuries, to snuff out the light of civilization and cover the world in darkness. Though he has put all of his power into the search for it, fate has put it in the hands of a young hobbit named Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), who inherits the Ring and steps into legend. (more)

Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers

All will be sacrificed... All will be lost... Unless all unite against evil.

The Fellowship has been broken. Boromir (Sean Bean) is dead, Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin) have gone to Mordor alone to destroy the One Ring, Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippin (Billy Boyd) have been captured by the Uruk-hai, and Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies) have made friends of the Rohan, a race of humans that are in the path of the upcoming war, led by its aging king, Thйoden (Bernard Hill). (more)

Lord Of The Rings - The Return Of The King

The Fellowship's journey is coming to an end. Sauron's forces have attacked Gondor's capital of Minas Tirith in his final siege against mankind. Watched over by a fading steward, the once great kingdom has never been in more desperate need of its king. But will Aragorn find the strength to become what he was born to be and rise to meet his destiny? (more)

Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring

Lord of the Rings The Two Towers
for $20.00
Lord of the Rings The Return of the King
for $30.00

That means you're paying $20.00 for the box that holds the 3 Movies. The one in your first post.

What 3 extra discs? Each Film has 2 discs, one with the movie, one with the special features... if there was 3 extra discs, that would be 9, not 6.

Exactly. The only differnce between the standard releases and the boxset just released is a rush job and ugly looking box. If it was a wodden box, or even embossed I might think about it, but the one that has been released I think I could whip up a better on in photoshop in 5min If I could be bothered.

It's $86.42 at BigW, not $89.84

Still means $16.42 for a piece of cardboard.
