I have a m 520 or an amptron pm 8800 mb with a
6g and a 10.2g hd (d)
1) the drives all seem to develop real errors
2) i replaced the filed 6.2g D with a 10.2g d
( both seagates) it has also developed one bad area BUT
when it wants to do scandisk, it says be sure lba is set .
the 10.2 is not properly recognized unless i set AUTO in the cmos. if i autodetect is is :248 cyl.
is there a setting in the bios?
i am using a win 98 se dos boot disk for drive setup. Or should i abandon the mb for another.
the bios is 10/18/1997 s
is there a better. even an older flash?
I believe it it is the m 520 as it has the 75mhz bus setting.

Hi Walt,

I think the pre 1999 bios' had a problem with large drives (over 8.4gb I think). Unless you can find some manual (user settings) that will work I would go with a drive overlay program. Didn't used to like them but they're really not that bad.
