Does anyone have experience or comment on this 32 inch wide screen set. I'm looking for a SD 32 inch wide screen to last 3 to 5 years which will be mainly used for PAL (region 4) DVDs and SD digital Satellite programmes. Like most of us PQ is important and price is a major consideration.
The other one I have under consideration is the Panasonic TX-76PW60A. The only negative I can find in the specs is that neither will do 576p but given comment on this forum about flicker problems on progressive maybe that's not such a major loss. I do note that the panasonic is fitted with their fine pitch tube - is that really a benefit at SD?
The TX7-6PW150A would seem to fit the bill nicely but it's no longer available except for one I've found in a local store. Unfortunately it's a demo unit that has done at least two months on the floor and I'm a bit wary of that, otherwise it would fit the bill nicely and they have dropped the price and offer a full warrenty from date of purchase. Any comment on these sets?
Any advice or comment will appreciated.
Cheers

Hi I bought a Thomson 36WX610A a month ago. I'll attach a copy of an email i
sent to someone who was considering buying one also...
"Hi Nick,
Just thought I'd let you know how the TV has been going this weekend.
Well, the pic is great and the TV is an excellent size for our room. On
screen menus are easy to use and the Mrs really likes the feel of the remote
lol. I have to admit it is pretty tactile. The pic definately involves you
alot more. We just sat there though a cpl of movies constantly remarking
each time some new details came up that we had never seen before. Easy to
program, move and delete TV channels. Speaker sound is OK for TV but as we
run preouts out of our Yamaha receiver in to a Plinius integrated amp we
wouldnt use it for anything else but that. Not alot of room on the top of
the TV for our center speaker so I might put that on a shelf on the wall
behind. At the moment it is sitting up there balanced on strategically
placed matchboxes lol
The only thing that I have had trouble with was working out that the RBG AV
Inputs (SCART) didnt necessarily mean that the TV had Component inputs. That
was a bugger cause both my Yamaha receiver and Pioneer DVD have Component.
So I'm just using S-Video and standard video.
The TV asks you to define the input of AV1 AV2 between RGB/SVid/Vid and AV3
SVid/Vid so you cant have SVid and normal video hooked up on the same AV
input. (I tried)
So I am using AV1 as a SVid line to the TV and have the DVD and VCR (with
SVid adaptor) configured there through the Receiver. I also am getting SkyTv
next weekend and from what I have been told I can get that with SVid so I'll
have that through AV1 also. That will make it easy to monitor the picture if
I am going to VCR record something off Sky while watching a DVD. Easier to
press one button on the Receiver (DVD to VCR) to check then to change the TV
and Receiver. (AV1 to AV2 and DVD to VCR). I can run 2 Sky outouts. One into
the Receiver and the other in to the Line 1 on the VCR so that helps alot
AV2 is my Digicam and Videocam which are both standard video inputs.
AV3 will prob be for a games console or maybe to run an extension lead
across the room and have my computer run in to it on occasions.
So a little disappointed that it wasnt Component capable but very very
satisfied with the change from my old TV to the Thomson. I guess that was
just my ignorance of the terms lol. A look on the net showed me all the
problems of Component to RGB and I wouldnt be able to connect it all up
without another little box but who cares. The pic change from vid to SVid is
alot more than the SVid to Component change so I can live with that.
Now I just have to do something about tidying up all the extra cabling. What
a mess.

Thanks Steve
I've gone back and checked and the inputs are as you say RGB and not component which pretty well eliminates this set from my list of possibilities since my DVD player is component out. Since you intend using it with Sky you may be interested in the following that I got in reply to a question on another forum recently. If its correct you will be able to go RGB from the Sky box directly to an RGB input on your TV and get the best picture anybody is ever likely to get from Sky.
Cheers
"Not sure about the Zenith but the Pace will output composite, S-video and RGB via the TV SCART, and composite via the VHS SCART (the two SCART outputs should be labelled).
As the decoders in use here are European in origin, they won't have component, only RGB.
I've just bought a Loewe TV and have the Sky box outputting SCART RGB (standard SCART lead) and have the DVD player hooked up via S-video to SCART (standard SCART lead plus S-video/SCART adaptor plug)."

Hi,
Thanks, I'm actually running Sky via SCART out into the receiver as S-Vid.
And S-Vid out into the S-Vid/Scart TV AV input. But just using SCART to
composite for the VCR.
BTW I am in NZ and we have a Motorola Sky box.

So am I (Christchurch and its snowing in town again today) My Sky box is a Zenith with two SCART and one composite (RCA) outputs, at the moment I'm using composite as my old Panasonic TV has limited iputs but that will change shortly when I can settle on what to replace it with.

Just bought the Thompson 32WX610A (76cm, flat screen) and a STB DT1500AU and I have to say I am wrapped in the quality and features if you are just after SD. I have been told that Thomson are going out of CRT's and focusing just on LCD, so you may get a bargain. I bought my TV for $1099 from Bi-rite Electrical in Brisbane QLD. I also bought a 5 year extended warranty for another $125. Happy to provide more info if anyone needs any, cheers
