I noticed the Palsonic 76cm HD selling for only $1499 now.
Its only 1024x768, but thats still much better than SD.
All sorts of inputs including VGA. (no DVI of course on a CRT)

Also, the Teac 66cm only $600 including STB (6 week wait "by redemption"
though). There's not much point buying a 4:3 anymore.
Viva la revolution!

wouldn't it want to be more like 1280x768 or 1024 x 578?

Just the local franchise retravision/vox-adeon/whatever. Should be
similar anywhere. TEAC is doing the free-STB promo.

I didnt really notice. I'm sure its fine for SD. The shops usually
have them badly set up anyway.

Its a trinitron tube, ie apeture grille, like everything else these
days. So the horizontal res is limited by stripe pitch, but not the
vertical. I guess its the best tube you can get at that price.

TEAC, PALSONIC, I couldn't say which one would be better, just as difficult
as which one is the worst! Life span of probably less than 12 months for
both. Disgusting picture quality compared to others that are more expensive.

Both currently offer a 3 year warranty, if that helps. By that time, all
the current stuff will be worth very little anyway.

They have cheap picture tubes, but hardly diguesting. Especially the HD
one. Not that I'd buy either :-)

more and get a better tube...
