Hi guys, fund this site while looking around for a set top box for my home theatre setup
I am currently using a Sony Trinitron Wega tv and would like to add a set top box to it for a better picture. I would also like one with hdd recording and some type of output to pc, eg firewire usb etc

i have also been looking for a decent dvd recorder as well but cant seem to find any that have a digital tuner, are these available in aust? if so what models are available?

No High Definition PVRs.... yet. They aren't far away.
No DVD recorders with a digital tuner yet. They are even further way.
Your TV is only capable of SD so just purchase a Pioneer or LG or Panasonic
DVD recorder with a hard drive.
I have the Pioneer 510 and it records from my Strong SD stb (and Foxtel
Satellite TV) without any problems.

They look like they are only Standard Definition.
If you want SD go for the TOPFIELD.

SOryr what i meant was a set top box with a hard drive built into it
So what is the difference between hd and sd?

Can the TOPFIELD take an input AV signal or SCART.
I have Foxtel digital and want to be able to use HDD to record from Foxtel
channels, not just the FTA channels.
I cannot see anything in the specs that supports video input.

If you want to record Foxtel to a HDD, you'll need a stand alone DVD-recorder with HDD like the Panasonic E85 (which I have for that very reason). The FTA PVRs won't accept digital input.
