View Full Version : digital tv users in the Newcastle, NSW area
Got myself a TEAC DV-B420 ... $179 from Kmart yesterday and hooked it up.
Getting Prime, NBN, Southern Cross 10, ABC and SBS all perfectly plus a few
of the bonus channels like SBS2 and Prime2 with the fancy Olympic coverage.
8-) (and or course two dodgey SBS radio stations and one ABC radio station)
Before I go f*cking around with my antenna on the roof though, does anyone
in Newcastle get anymore channels than this ? Like anything from the Seven
Network (not Prime). I understand without a signal from the Seven network I
cannot get teletext which I was a bit disappointed with.
cheers

I also have the 420 and I get teletext out here in Orange NSW, I believe
that Prime carries the text signal for us because I get it without a problem
YMMV

Make sure you are on Prime when you hit the Teletext button and it
should work, mine did.
I've had 2 of these over the last 3 weeks and unfortunately had to
return both. Bought one from The Good Guys here in Newcastle. Worked
perfectly for 2 weeks and then stopped responding reliably to the
remote control, work sometimes and not work other times. Had the
remote swapped by the shop, did nothing. Had the entire unit swapped
for a new unit . New unit lasted about 2 hours before again failing to
respond to the remote if more than 5 button presses were made one
after the other. Took it back and have decided to wait for the next
generation of Digital Set Top Boxes. Anyone else had this problem? Hit
'OK' to bring up the channel selection menu. Then press either the
'UP' or 'Down' arrows five times to shift to another station and have
it fail to respond thereafter?
