I don't know if it was just me but during the first 40 minutes of the closing
ceremony the picture dropped out every 3 seconds or so for about 2 seconds, ie.
unwatchable. I refer to the HD transmission of channel 70. I got up at 4am to
watch this as I was told the re-run will not be in HD (why?) and it was a waste
of time.

The opening ceremony rerun was also only broadcast in SD, not that they
bothered to mention this little detail, so I missed that totally ...

I tried to call channel 7 about the picture dropouts, but am still on hold 3
hours later :)

Anyone else had the same problem?

channel 7 screwed up initially with the HD broadcast. In Melbourne the
video transmission was initially just over 10.6Mbps with what seemed
like video stream re-encoding problems and NO audio for the first
~20mins. Selecting the SD audio feed whilst watching the HD video was
pointless as the audio sync difference between the 2 channels was over
1.5 seconds.
Thankfully after 20mins someone woke up at channel 7 and activated the
audio feed for the HD channel that had different commentators to the SD
channel. The HD channel video bitrate started at 10.6Mbps then went to
9.6Mbps after the audio recovery then later went back to 10.6Mbps. The
HD channel had Alisa Camplin and Peter Donegan commentating, can't
remember who was commentating on the SD channel.

Hopefully 7 will replay the HD feed tonight so I can record the entire
ceremony WITH audio.
But knowing 7 they won't bother with HD and they'll retain all the well
placed ad breaks throughout the ceremony......

I had the same picture break up, but I was getting audio each time the
picture came back. I'm in Melbourne,

Shame channel 7, shame! And they did not even bother to say something. They
treat us like s**t. May be it's time for the TV industry to be deregulated...

I also had audio, but only when there was picture (in Sydney)

At least the replay has perfect audio and video unlike this morning in
Melbourne.
