I was watching a widescreen movie I'd recorded off Nine last night and
the watermark was pissing me right off. Since it's got to be in the 4:3
"zone", when you're watching in letterbox mode it's right in the middle
of the bloody picture! If the film has a dark background it's very
distracting.

I guess there's nothing which can be done about this? To whom do I
complain (yeah, right!) at ch9?

Cheers, Robert.

Little to be done, but I agree with you, it sucks!

A movie on TV? And the adverts _don't_ piss you off? And the editing???
WTF would you watch a movie on TV? Except on SBS.

Check the local video library. Its $5 for 5 movies here.
Save them on the PC to watch at your leisure.

Nine's digital watermark in Adelaide is at the bottom right of the
16:9 area (like Seven's), not in the 4:3 area. Perhaps this is a local
thing.

What are you complaining about, you should see what WIN TV (9 regional) does during sports. They cover up the quite discrete 9 logo with a large WIN logo that is a solid block of dark blue with yellow writing. It is just the thing to burn in a nasty after image on a plasma screen.

i personally hate watermarks. usually they are way too big and distracting (to see what i mean if you have pay tv check out channel v's look and how they splash huge logos and fonts all over the screen!!!). yuck. all i can say is that its little wonder dvds are proving so popular. people want what they love on dvd and without any of the crap we have to put up with when its broadcast on tv (whether it be pay or fta tv).

I was watching a widescreen movie I'd recorded off Nine last night and
the watermark was p*ssing me right off. Since it's got to be in the 4:3
"zone", when you're watching in letterbox mode it's right in the middle

distracting.

I guess there's nothing which can be done about this? To whom do I
complain (yeah, right!) at ch9?

Cheers, Robert.

To their share holders. Channel 9 gives a sh*t about your "problem".
Here I complained about the wrong time and 6 dB higher audio level
compare to other channels, received a phone call a few days later from
someone who didn't have a clue about anything and never heard back.

Of course it is still not fixed. This is through Mt.Bellenden Kerr's
repeater (digital).

Cheers
Gerhard
