ok guys i know how frustrating it is converting xvids etc for your standalone so here is a much simpler solution.
simply download the xvid codec on your computer and install, then open your xvid files with the fourcc changer and change them to divx. Close and thats it (takes about 5 seconds alltogether). (it "tricks" the players to think the file is a standard divx file), oh and by the way, just before yous burn it onto a cd try play it on your computer (with windows media player) to make sure it works good (some xvids just dont allow this sort of change without stuffups) ...
I use this method on my dvx558 and maybe 1nce every 20 movies it doesent work and then i haveto do the whole virtuadub thing :( YUK!
