I am wondering whether the XMS-888 or 989 player support dual language divx coded movies? I.e. left and right sound channel contains 1 different set of language.

Currently, the VCD player can broadcast 1 channel sound on both channel speakers for a VCD coded movies. Does these DivX players do that for Divx coded movie?

Thanks

Can't say I have ever seen any files like you mention to know if it would work or not. The only thing that comes to mind is that if you have the audio output set to send a mono signal to two speakers and then you use the Karaoke function to select the seperate left or right chanell, then that mono channel information should get directed to the two front channels and changing from left to right would give you your alternate soundtracks. This is hypothetical of course as I have never seen a file like you describe with a different language recorded on the left and right channels.

Yes, the dual language is basically the same thing as an Karaoke disc where one channel has diff. sound info as the other. So I take it will work on these divx players?

Thanks

It's always best to try a sample on a player if you can before you buy it, if there is a feature that you specifically want.
The XMS-989 does do multiple divx audio streams (e.g. 2 x mp3 streams), but I haven't seen a divx encoded with the languages on seperate left / right channels.

What's the diff. in features between the 2 models?

Where can I find a store selling the XMS-989 model?

I created these divx from 2 vcds so I don't need to switch disc in the middle of the movie and easier to lend to friends. Currently using Media Player Classic (http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/) to manage audio channels. Planning to move onto standalone divx player.

Thanks

Strathfield (or Brisbane Car Radio (Audio?)) sell the XMS989 and the XMS888.
I don't know if it will do it the way you have described but.
I guess you can but try, the store guys at most of the stores are usually happy to set one up for you if you ask.
see www.ausdivx.tk for more info on both of these.
oh, and www.strathfield.com

I have had divx movies with 2 sound tracks and the track button on the XMS888 let me switch between the 2 (after the 1.2 firmware upgrade).
