Hello
hope u can help. Have a dvd player with component out and my tv has
scart in. the tv manual says its scart (RGB). I have purchases a scart
to component adaptor and relevant component plugs and hooked them up
but i get no images via dvd. im confirming with the tv manufacturer
that the scart plug is configured for component
can anyone provide advise why this may not work, i thought scart
adaptor should be wired for component, svideo, composite etc.
Can the tv scart adaptor be configure to accept component signals?
if it is rgb, can i get a scart adaptor which converts the component
signal to RGB? any help would be appreciated as i dont wont to watch
dvd using svideo or composite which work btw.
thanks in advance

Tom,

RGB is different from component, which is why you aren' t getting a picture from your DVD player. You'll need to check your TV manual to see if any of the scart inputs (are there more than one?) accept component. I have an RGB to component active converter, but I haven't seen the reverse situation. You may either have to accept s-video or look for an RGB via scart DVD player. There is a discussion about these on the DBA forum (http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=7282) Good luck.

I paid full list price of $129 for the KMart Magnavox MDVD-200 which has
SCART RGB output (among many other output options). Does not do
progressive but you probably have an interlaced TV anyway so don't need
that. Picture quality is a vast improvement over composite, but I can't
compare RGB to S vid as my TV does not have S vid.
