Download a program called Gspot, run the file through it, and post back what it reports for Audio bit rate / video bit rate etc.
Someone might be able to suggest something.

Putting it onto DVDr media would most likely not change it, as the bit rates are not that high.
Perhaps you could try it on a different brand media though (although if your other stuff is ok, this probably won't make any difference).
If your burning the disc at high speed, try burning at say 4x to start off with to see if that makes any difference.
Other than that, I can't see anyhting in those figures that would suggest a problem.
Anyone else?

andw: I have had a similar experience to huckbeats while encoding video. My files also play fine on the PC. I have attached a gspot screen dump.

any help would be appreciated as to whether its the media or the bit rate, frames. etc. If it helps I encoded it with Dr DivX 1.05.

any tips appreciated.

The Variable Bit Rate (VBR) in the audio usually causes problems with hardware players, but usually to do with Audio / Video sync.
Stick to Constant Bit Rate (CBR) if you can help it.

andw: a few of them are exactly like this one but cbr and they still cause the problem. any other theories ?

Are you talking about the audio going on/off like in the original post?
If so, are you going out via digital, or analogue?
