The only problem with some of the Sonys is that they lack any manual or user-defined controls. I have a mate with one and it doesnt even have a Shutter Priority mode.
But it also depends on what photos you want to take with it. Personally I find most of the Sony Point&Shoots to be more style and form over function. And memory sticks are kinda expensive aren't they?

Basically, you can have a Full Auto mode - which takes care of every setting for you. So all you need to do is press the button. You can also have full manual modes, and modes which control certain aspects of the shot such as the shutter speed and aperture.
If you only want the camera to point and click and take photos, then the Sony (and any other brand) will all let you do this.

From the specs, it appears it's a big megapixel easy to use camera. Not too much to fiddle with, but if you're not the type to go fiddling with camera settings etc, then it looks fine. RRP is 799, so a price down around 600 seems a good buy.

DVDUDE,
thanks for all your help, i dont really know anything about the digital cameras, ive just heard the sony cybershot is good. as to the RRP, i believe harvey norman is selling it for $650 and i get 5% off from there, so the Ebay deal isnt excellent.

Could be the Sony site is just out of date with its RRP.
Hardly Normal is not exactly the cheapest around. Might be worth checking some prices. IN Sydney you could try Digital City or G&V IMaging in the city...... maybe even dirtcheapcameras.com

The Kodak Smith store in Chadstone was the cheapest place for my camera in Melbourne.
Other cheap places for cameras www.msy.com.au and http://www.centrecom.com.au
