Beta DivX Browser Plugin

About this beta release

Thanks to our man Damien Chavarria, you can now put high-quality, full-sized DivX video right on your webpage! Say goodbye to low-resolution blocky embedded video! The plugin is released under our Beta License (http://labs.divx.com/archives/EULA_Beta.txt) , and is currently compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer.Try it out (http://trailers.divx.com/plugin/index.html) , play with the HTML, and post links to your results here (http://forums.divx.com/viewtopic.php?forum=23&topic=61339). The plugin is controlled by a few simple Javascript functions, so it's very easy to develop for.

For more details, check out DivX Labs (http://labs.divx.com) .

Enjoy!

Quality looks good, a few niggles with it starting straight away, and then stop starting ever time it loads a bit more.
Pausing so the buffer can catch up, and then playing or rewinding seems to lock it up on my machine.
A download bar just below the playback window would be nice, as would a full screen option.
Also, even though the playback locks up, the file keeps downloading.
The only way to 'unlock' it seems to be to refresh the window, but then it starts downloading the entire file again (even if it had previously already finished)

Agree the quality is great but I think it should either be a lower res or it should have a larger buffer before it starts, I'm on a T1 connection and I still get the stop start every few seconds, looks like VOD is not too far away. Ever get the feeling that there are people from DivX trolling around here, the random posts seem to suggest they are following the scene down here.

Yes I hope so on both accounts (VOD and them being here).

We like to keep our ear to the ground ;) (Although occasionally that makes it hard to type...)

This is a good place to listen, probably the most DivX related stuff of any of the Australian sites anyway, the members would probably appreciate some news every now and again if you feel inclined to post.

Are you talking VOD in general or as an internet service ?

The DivX version, not the cabled variety like they have in Canberra.

Thats sorta of where I was heading as in Mpeg4 used in order to get the data traffic to a sustainable rate on copper based networks. The Canberra network for VOD is currently cable only, apparently the service will be available thru ULL(vdsl on copper) in the not to distant future.

Yeah the proposed DivX version is meant to be streamed over the net, part of the certification process for players is to support this service.
