Hi,

Digital Output settings (coax)
As I mentioned, I have not yet tested the optical connection,
but the coax digital out is working, with the following settings (some may not be relevant and/or defaults):

Speaker Setup
Downmix = Off

Audio Setup
SPDIF OUTPUT = SPDIF/RAW
OP MODE = LINE OUT
DUAL MONO = STEREO
COMPRESSION = FULL
PRO LOGIC = OFF
LPCM OUTPUT = LPCM 96K

KARAOKE
KARAOKE = OFF

I've got 2 XMS-888 and tried both, but I'm damned if I can get digital optical or coxial working.

I've tried the above settings with no luck.

I'm using a Pioneer VSX-D814 for my Home Ent. AMP and I've changed the optical source to DVD.

I've also kept my firmware to the original released 1.0 as I found I could no longer play some out-of-spec .AVI's with either v1.1 or v1.2.

Can anyone help please, this is really annoying??

The AMP isn't showing any DIGITAL AUDIO signal, I'm getting the VIDEO OK.

Cheerz :) ;) :D

Try the LPCM output at 48K, just in case your amp can't handle 96K.

According to the specs it can http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/home_entertainment/receivers/vsxd814/ certainly sounds odd though, normally not much to getting it to work, unless the player is faulty maybe?

Hi guyz,

Thanks for taking the time to post, I've had no success yet though.

I searched the forums and found this, sounds like others have sufferred the same fate:

I believe the Pioneer amp works OK as it was being used at Radio Rentals and they configure them with digital optical. I purchased one originally yesterday but had to return it this morning as the other refused to turn ON.

There have been a couple of cases where there were faulty digital outputs, I came across one myself the other day, could be that you have one also. Take it back and ask them to test it in the store unless you have access to another amp that you can try yourself.

Hi,

I eventually worked it out. :o

Even though the instructions show how to connect to digital optical or coax, it doesn't mention that the speakers need a specific setting by pressing the SPEAKERS button on the from of the Pioneer D814-S AMP, it should be this way by default.

Thanks for taking the time to post guyz, appreciated. :p
