Just been into Harvey Norman in Preston Melbourne. Wow is all i can say just after buying a D70 DSLR for just under $2100, They have several DSLR cameras on sale one being the Canon 10D @ $2199inc GST. The Pentax *ist with 28 - 90mm lens @ $2499. The Sigma SD-10 with 18 - 50mm 55mm - 200mm For just $2399!!! WOW great prices from a store. I never buy off of the net as you never know what you will get so i shop around the stores. Damn i wish i hadnt rushed out and got my D70, though it is a great camera and im happy.

$2,200 for a 10D, wow ...

Must be clearing stock before the 20D?

Wonder if they sell the pro kit though?

If you are looking for Canon equipment at very good prices, I don't think you can go past this guy. (see link below)

www.qualitycamera.com.au

I have bought all my gear from Stu.....a Canon 300d DSLR as well as filters, lenses, filter holders etc.

Although you can't be too careful with people on-line, I have made all my purchases via phone with Stu and it is delivered within 48 hrs.

I am learning photography and he is very patient, tolerant and helpful...so I cannot recommend him highly enough.

check him out....

Haven't bought from him, but I've heard good things about him from others.

Shame he doesn't have the normal 20D lens kit though. I don't really need the vertical grip, and 512mb cards just don't cut it anymore :(

I know he orders in a couple of 20ds at a time. If I want anything in particular that he doesn't have in stock, he orders it in for me.
I have the battery grip for my 300d and cannot imagine my camera without it.

Just a quick butt in here......I would like to let you know I will taylor a package to suit anyone needs, it is not about what I want to sell....but what you want to photograph, and how we can best find the equipment to suit your needs, The only reason I package all these things together is for the Starter....there is everything there needed to operate the camera and more. Please feel free to call me on 08 9842 2212 or email help@qualitycamera.com.au if I may be of any assistance

the non-photographic shops like Harvey normans etc seem to be having some great DSLR deals lately and they'll just get better. The 20D is a definitely cool camera..drool.. I have been told that after the big photography forum in Europe that prices will start to get better on this kind of DSLR. Heres hoping.
anyway i'm new to this site and i have a question (do i need to post a new thread for this? hmm bit of a luddite when it comes to these things) can you sell stuff through this site?

Thanks, but to be honest at the moment I'm being the bastard customer and looking for the best price. I've got $2639 for the 20D with 18-55, and looking at importing a 70-200 F4L from the States or sourcing a new-ish second hand one locally.

That is the beauty of competition, and choice....everyone looking for a bargain and if you know what you want then may be a cheaper way to go....Dont forget GST on Importing....Add 10% to Cost INCLUDING shipping. And be careful with who you trust! .....

Yeah, factoring in worst case scenario, I am still at least 300 bucks ahead on the lens. There is still the risk of it being lost in transit etc though.

I'm almost tempted to buy the Pentax to use for a bit, then sell it off and get the 20D later....
