Hi,
I had a look around the forums and could not see any discussion on the problem I'm having with my new Z330.
It plays back divx ok, but plain old DVD has some issues, the Brightness and to a lesser degree the colours fade/ pulsate in and out over a 10 second period or so. There is also some ghosting lines across the picture (a bit like free to air TV interference).
I know it is not the TV or the cables because the same DVD on my old player, using the save TV and cables, plays back fine.
Anyone else had the issue? Any way to fix it? Or did I just get a dud and I should take it back?
Thanks

It sounds like the effects of Macrovision copy protection, you don't have it connected via your VCR by any chance do you?

woah dude... I do.
You know any references off hand that I can read up this problem.
Is it because the player is cheap?

You cannot operate the unit via VCR due to Mavrovision protection.
Jokiin, is there a code to disable macrovision, 5 years ago a bought a dvd player and there was simply procedure to disable it, I found nothing on DVD help forum, I have not noted a comment on this forum in the last 2 or so months since I bought my XMS888.

Macrovision was my problem, I've got it directly plugged into the TV and it all runs fine now. I'd just like to say that I despise this kind of technology crippling, and Macrovision can burn in silicone hell.

Very ironic that these players, essentially bought by people to play DVD backups, cannot disable macrovision.

I agree - macrovision sucks big balls, but who cares these days? :dD
