I succesfully transferred home video to dvd. It plays ok with sound on my room dvd player connect via rca to tv.
But when I try to play that dvd on my other dvd player (Home Theatre), I get no sound? Only difeerence is the HT dvd player is cconnected to the amp via coaxial cable.
I was told that maybe my amp does not switch auto to analogue when dectecting analogue sound. Does that matter? Shouldn't it play regardless?
Thanks
Pat

I think the problem may be you have recorded it with only one channel of sound having any volume, and are not playing the channel that has the volumel. This is just a guess. what I can't understand is that you say you have a home theatre system connected to an amp by coaxial. I thought coaxial is what you plug into the TV

There are two types of digital connections, the popular one being toslink or optical and the other (and some say superior) is coaxial. So there shouldn't be a problem with that connection.

As far as the OP question goes, if the sound is from a DVD it should be digital, regardless of whether it is 2, 3, 4 or 5 channel. If you check the settings on the DVD just make sure all the available sound types are on (these are PCM/DD/dts etc).

If the receiver/amp has an 'AUTO' sound input selector it should work ok.
