Well well well, looks like Sony has entered the world of divx players as well.

Philips, Pioneer and now Sony, I think it won't be too long before it becomes just another feature like mp3 and they all have it.

I think those will sell better as most people trust these types of brands.
I think its good to see, it will increase demand and thus increase other uses such as recording TV shows in DivX with surround sound.
Using DVD recording tech you can only really fit 6 hours of good quality video per 4.5GB disc (extra long record or what ever they call it). With the same divx disc you could fit much more.
I guess name brand divx recorders will be next (if they haven't already started), then imagine how much reasonable quality TV you could record on a 80gig hard disk drive.

They are in pre production at the moment.

From their quote 'unique Precision Cinema progressive technology' Sony have always been good at making up names for the technology, even if it is the same as what everyone else uses anyway.
