dear wathcher ,
i dont know who you r referring to in your post but if som idiot would try to sell pirate dvds or vcds or svcds i think that we all would know that pirated movies are avaliable all oround the internet for free amd anyone stupid enough to buy or sell one when they know that it is a pirate copy then they deserve what they get and i think everyone feels the same ;-)
p.s.:just thought i would share my thoughts

It is not as easy as you think. Some dodgy dealers advertise DVD's as a genuine R1 or R4 or whatever, and actually post a picture showing item, and after payment, send out pirate to buyer.
I was sold pirate discs twice in the last 2 months after bidding on what I thought were genuine R1 movies(And I do have a good idea of what is currently available on DVD).
I was lucky, when I contacted sellers demanding a refund I got my money back, and then reported them.

G'day there and thanks for your feedback.:)
The message isn't directed to anyone in particular, but serves as a warning to people who aren't familiar with these forums.
One reason I have that message at the top of the for sale/swap page is that this site was often subject to adds for pirated goods and I would spend a lot of time editing messages, moving message, deleting messages and emailing people about it.
I am a volunteer that does this on my own time and having the message that you refer to at the top of the for sale/swap page has dramtically reduced the number of messages being posted with pirated items being offered for sale.
This has saved myself and Admin a lot of time.
We have a zero tolerance policy towards pirated items and regular member feedback has been very much in support of this.
We must also remember that EYO who is a legitimate business with a great reputation provide these forums for all to use and they do not want people using their forums to sell/trade in illegal goods.
Regards......

:) It is heartening to see that others out there share my distaste for people selling Pirates, I have had trouble convincing ebay in the past about illegal trade on their site, I have even gone to the trouble in the past of emailing bidders about a seller with a record of selling dodgy discs, on whose item they bid.
And sometimes even warning a seller that you will report him does the trick( they offer lame excuses like:How was i to know its a pirate.
cheers
Chris:)

On the old forum many people wanted a notice like that at the top, myself included.
The reason he dosen't kill off everyone's account the first time is because it sometimes happens someone has dodgy discs but honestly don't know. And it is up to the members here to make their own decisions as to weather or not they want to deal with someone who has a dodgy history, and most people here are against piracy.
Personally I think it's great we have a moderator like Watcher, this forum is compleatly free with absolutly no ads in it and functions very well as DVD swap forum.

I think you'll find Watcher has quite an intrest in DVDs, read some of his reviews. He did mention that he does trade with people here in another post, he may even use a seperate alias for use as a trader on here (presumably he probably does).
That said, he's like most other people here except that he gives his time to moderate the forum. Which means reading EVERY post. And his attitude and behaviour here set a great example, making this a good, decent, peaceful, forum. And it's a FREE forum, not free with ads all over it, just plain free. Quite amazing.

Ooooohhhh yeah! I have close to 300 DVD's and still going strong.
I really enjoy the reviewing job and I feel lucky that I can do it.

I usually buy from people in here under my real name and email, but I did buy a DVD off someone last week as Watcher as I was in a rush and found it quicker to use my "Watcher" email account as I was logged in already.
I only have one membership/username here though and that is Watcher of course.

Yeah, it does take a bit of my own time, but I was a long time regular of the original forums and I spent a lot of time browsing anyway. I like the idea of being able to help keep these forums friendly and make it a good place to visit for all.
Credit must go to EYO as they provide everything here and pay the bills, but still keep it free for all to use without us being subjected to banner adds and pop up windows etc....

I was a good place for me to find some simple infomation about DVDs, and observe how "safe" this kind of buisness was.
Close to 300 DVDs hey... and you still write it DVD's? Hehehe, sorry, that's a lot more then me. I hope your player dosen't wear out :D!
