Bought a new Zensonic 330 2 weeks ago. I could not get the idx/sub files to work. All the files are of the same name ie. movie.avi, movie.idx and movie.sub and all are in the root directory of CDR. For srt file it is ok.
Press 1006 in Preference and it says I have ver 1.1FE with a date of Jul 29 2004
Do I have the lastest version? Should I download from andw's website and do the upgrade anyway?
Thanks

Do I have the lastest version? .
No, the version shows as the same number bit is actually different, check the Zensonic site for specific info.

You mean even though it shows the same version number (by pressing 1006), it is actually different from that firmware (http://www.zensonic.com.au/downloads/Z330_v1_1.zip) as described here http://www.zensonic.com.au/downloads/changelog-Z330_1_1.txt ?

Yes that exactly what I mean, the version number is the same but is actually different.

Thanks.
Shall upgrade the firmware then.
They should have called it something like ver 1.2 rather then confusing people.

Yeah, not sure what happened there, you're not the first one to be confused by it though.

Just did the upgrade. idx/sub files working fine now. :)
Btw what's up with those green colour shadow behind the white colour subtitle? Doesn't look too good to me.

No idea on the subtitle question, I don't ever use them. Andw can probably advise though, he might have info on his site www.ausdivx.tk

I got caught on that firmware version # too - just a bit strange that one!
However - be warned, the subtitle font on the 330 isn't great. I don't use it at all anymore - when you watch subtitles against a white part of the movie, you won't be able to read a thing.
Get Textsub, and burn the subtitles into the movie... Bit painful have to re-encode, but it's the only way it's watchable for me.

The green shadow is a bit weird, but it is the only player I have seen so far that displays idx/sub at all, so the weird green shadow is better than no subtitle I guess. :rolling:

I played an avi file today. It come with three idx/sub files. First one is english sub, second one is traditional chinese sub and third one is simplified chinese subtitle. I copied the avi file and one of the idx/sub files onto a CDRW disc, making sure that all the files are of the same name (but different extension). I then played the disc and then erased it and repeat the process but with different idx/sub file.
Interestingly, none of the two chinese subtitles could be properly displayed. The english one displayed alright and was in white colour and without the green colour shadow too.
