I recently purchased a Pioneer DV-676A and hooked it up to my system Benq PB6100 using a 15m Belden Component -> VGA cable. My old player was a cheap Digitrex without progressive scan using an s-video cable.

Since connecting up the new player and cable I have played a few DVDs but have noticed that with progressive scan turned on via the player when viewing a 780x576p source there is a whole row of about 10 'pixels' at the top of the image that are lighter than the rest and in high light scenes they flicker left and right. It's a little hard to decribe but it is very noticable.

The fault is not visible when I'm using s-video or using component without progressive turned on. It's also not visible when viewing a 780x480p image (a divx source) or a 2.35 ratio movie (since the top of the image is pure black).

Does anyone have any idea what this could be, and what the source of the problem would be? The Cable? The Player or the Projector?

Any help or advice would be most appreciated.
