If one were to decompile and/or disassemble the existing firmware for both the XMS-989 and the Zensonic Z300......
Would it be even remotely feasible to transfer the Z300's MT1389GE mods into our XMS-989 code, and then compile/assemble???
I've got some time on my hands, so I could give it a go if it were possible. ;)

However, the servo code is different so although you can get a picture on the screen, the tray ejects and stays out.
You will then not have the ability to reflash back again. (unless you have a very special cable, see above link).
Also, the code for the VFD is totally different. :rolleyes:

Joining the Yahoo group that Andw mentioned is perhaps the best source of MediaTek hacking info at the moment, hopefully I will have the first updated firmware soon, I'm meeting with the manufacturer this week.
Yay, if they can get us something, it's certainly a lot easier than having to hack it.
There are still a LOT of unknowns in there.
