Hi all, basically I had a major problem with my pc and had to use system
recovery. Everything seems to be fine apart from the fact I can't access my
old documents it keeps on saying access denied etc. Is there any way to get
into the file and retrieve my work? or is it a lost cause?

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP
NOTE: You must be logged on to the computer using an account that has administrative
privileges. If you are running Windows XP Home Edition, in order to have access to
the Security tab, you must first start in Safe Mode and log on with an account that
has Administrative rights.

Thanks for that ^^. I right clicked on the file - got to the sharing and
security and onto the advanced options but there's no ower tab anywhere. I
tried to restart in safe mode my pressing F8 when my pc is restarting to get
me into an administrative account, but believe it or not it's not letting me
into safe mode to so I can't log on with an account that has Administrative
rights to have access to the Security tab....
