After watching my new criterion collection copy of spike lee's seminal movie on racism last night for the first time since seeing it on video i can only sit back in awe at it's sheer power.
This movie has lost none of it's impact with the passage of time and still hits like mike tyson.
At least we can rejoice in the fact that criterion continue to recognise great movies and give them the treatment they disserve even if the academy awards put there head in the sand.

I agree, a great film, and the Criterion version is loaded with extra's as well. Lee's best film IMO.

Way better than alot of films that have won best picture at the academy awards since it's release in 1993.They snubbed this for driving miss daisy:rolling: .I have only just scratched the surface of the suppliments so far but it's cool to see people like sam jackson and john turturro when they where so young with all that raw talent ready to explode onto the world.

I dont think the Criterion was all that different from the R4 spike lee box set :p

The Criterion is a 2 Disc set.

Don't think we'd be lucky enough to get the same.

Well being the person I am,I look out for bargains and some what..my option last year was to buy the 3 disc spike lee set, as it was only $44! I know criterion is criterion, seeing as Ive seen the other 2 films in the set and I liked! my option was to choose the digi-pack, the R4 contains the 61 min doco, commentary and the other little tid bits! I had no need to get the criterion, as I thought it was too much anyway and couldn't miss out on the other films with it (Spike Lee makes fantastic films ;))

Read this review and you will see what i'm talking about...
http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ReviewID=716

Now as the R4 didn't include:
New video introductions by Spike Lee
New video interview with editor Barry Brown & a music video....

Then I wasn't going to lose out on the 2 other suberb spike lee films for a few more extra's I wouldn't even watch... ;)
