Hi

I just bought a Nintaus 9901 but I have a lot of problems with it.

first of all, I didn't get a manual or any cables... :(

second, the remote seems to be screwed up...only about half the buttons do what their labels say... I have to use 'play' as a menu selector instead of 'select'...
and none of the setup buttons do anything.

My image is black/white but I can't get into the player setup menu...

Hope you can help

Take it back to the shop you bought it from.

If it was JB HiFI I had a similiar story.

I live in Hobart so my brother in law went to JB in Brighton and they had some stock without manuals. He went in later that day and all had sold. He went to JB in Camberwell (or some place similiar sounding) and he got one with manual and cable.
Both outlets were charging the same price for the unit.

If they won't replace with one with a manual and cable, then take them to your Consumer Affairs office as the the Nintaus 9901 is definitely supposed to ship with a manual and cable.

- lid, you can just hit the reply button instead of starting an entire new thread to reply. :)
I just merged the 2 threads together so your reply is now inside this thread.

The problem is I bought it , as new, on the net from a private guy who was supposedly importing them....

but the player showed up in an old box, unwrapped, with no warranty, no cables and no manual... and now he is not answering phone nor email...

I am about to take it to the police , but just wanted to know if there was something I could do to make it work...

But thanks anyway... :)

Another option is to contact Nintaus (Australia): http://www.nintaus.com.au/page2.html

They may be able to diagnose it by phone/e-mail if it is a simple fault.

sounds as though you are outputing in ntsc instead of pal, hence the black and white picture. may be hard to correct without the remote working though

If you read some earlier threads you would have read that the nintaus web site is a waste if time.

I believe the operators of that web site went belly up and that QTD now distribute the Nintaus.

Contact JB HiFi as it's likely they sold it originally.

At best they may replace, at worst if you hassle them enough they should allow you to copy the manual and if you bring in the player, you may be able to set it up correctly via one of their remotes.

Failing that, try qtd, at www.qtd.com.au but don't waste time emailing them - phone them.

Oh, next time, if buying off the web, make sure the seller has an A1 reputation through prior sales on the auction site.

The Nintaus if a good player for it's price and you could easily have been burnt with any brand and it's also possible that you bought a stolen unit.
