AUDIO/VISUAL

The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio on this DVD is pretty darn good!
All speakers are used very well and you find this out at the very start of the movie when the horses sound like they come running straight through your room.
The front sound stage is very broad and the speech comes across very clear and in sync.
The rears help to provide lots of atmosphere and seem to offer just about every ambient sound possible.
There were quite a few times where there was a very good feeling of being immersed in the atmosphere of the movie with the subtle sounds of things such as bugs and weather.
All The Pretty Horses has an aspect of 2.35:1 widescreen and is 16:9 enhanced.
I have one word to describe the video quality of this DVD.... WOW!
This movie looks fantastic on DVD folks. It is such a beautiful and clean transfer.
The picture is very clean and sharp and offers a lot of good detail.
Colours are just outstanding as are blacks, shadow detail and flesh tones.
They really do help show off some of the awesome scenery in this movie which has been beautifully captured by some outstanding cinematography.
There is no way that the video quality will disappoint viewers of this DVD.

Filmographies-
In this section you will find film and television credits for 6 of the main cast members and also Director Billy Bob Thornton.
You have a background picture of the cast/crew member and you are able to read one or two screens of text listing their films.
Original Movie Trailer-
This movie trailer which runs for just over
2 minutes is presented in Full Screen with Dolby Digital 2.0 audio.
I found this to be a very well put together trailer, which portrays the movie very well.
While it does give away almost the entire plot it is definitely one to take a look at after you have watched the movie.
Bonus Movie Trailers -
There are 2 bonus movie trailers available on this DVD.
The first trailer Finding Forrester runs for just over 2 minutes and is presented in widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.

OVERALL

I never had any real plans to watch ALL THE PRETTY HORSES but when the review copy turned up I gave it a spin. I'll admit I was not sure what to expect from it and for the first 20 minutes
or so I wasn't very impressed with the storyline. It does get better though folks so if you intend watching this movie all I can say is just hang in there. It in fact turned out to be a pretty good movie which I really did enjoy.
The story focuses on John Grady Cole (Damon) who along with his best friend Lacey Rawlins heads to Mexico to find work on a ranch. When Cole falls in love with the daughter of his employer all hell breaks loose and the movie takes some turns that you don't expect when you first start watching it.
With some stunning cinematography, a fairly good story line and some acceptable performances by Matt Damon and a quality support cast ALL THE PRETTY HORSES get the thumbs up from me.
The DVD itself contains a few extra features which some may class as run of the mill but they do serve their purpose and there is no faulting the audio/visual transfer which shouldn't get any complaints.
