Great Unit, fucked support from Zensonic. Chuna (the guy who "runs" Zensonic) seems to be way more interested in releasing really crappy low end products (such as Zensonic speakers, wireless media centres and amps) than supporting the 330 or the 300.

There IS NO codec upgrades for the 330 or the 300. It's a lie.

Yeah, it's a shame about the lack of firmware upgrades .... all they need to do is update the xvid codec and the thing would be brilliant, and as such make users recommend it to other people. I've had no luck with these things. Bought the XMS 989.. piece of sh!#. the OSD is just unbelievable. Bought the zensonic, no osd, but no firmware supports. *sigh*. HTPC for me next... i'm over these units.

No need to get on the attack guys, there have been updates already, some more are in the works and are actively being persued, regardless of what you might think you know. This is a long winded process to get going though and these things do not happen over night. If you intend to play the latest codecs all the time though you may prefer a dedicated HTPC or a modded Xbox, things such as the latest Xvid codecs are a problem for all standalone hardware players at the moment, much to everyones dissapointment.

Jokiin, are you a Zen budhist? Seriously the amount of crap that flies around, and you ALWAYS have a reasonable and calm response to it.

Go and tell Chuna to put up weekly status reports on what is happening with regards to firmware upgrades.

My guess is that chuna wishes he could put up a weekly status report.
If the factory isn't telling him anything, how can he tell us anything.
Working with a few different players, it would seem that they quite often don't find out much before us.
They are relying on the factories to supply it. They keep pushing them, but don't get much communication back. - Then one day a firmware arrives for them to test...

There is usually a reasonble and calm answer, that's why. Seriously you can find faults anywhere if that's your intention, but for what? You get stressed out over the most trivial matters, if in doubt have a look through some of your previous posts, you were complaining before you even bought the product, if you go into something with a negative attitude what do you expect the experience to be like. I'm not suggesting you wear rose coloured glasses and pretend that things are not as they are, but be a little more realistic with your expectations it really is no easy task to get all these things happening. I have been doing firmwares for other players for quite a while and it can be very frustrating at times, I have some pending now and as much as would like to I would be stupid if I posted details of when it will be available as so many times I have been let down in the past, the factories sometimes make promises that are broken or the firmware turns up and it fixes one problem and creates another, it is very tiresome process, have a bit more patience with the process. I guess it looks easy from the outside but I assure you it is not. All players are similar in this respect, it doesn't matter who makes it there will always be something around the corner that trips it up and causes a problem. If you are really having major issues try contacting the supplier (Chuna) and see what they can do for you, the guys are very helpful, especially if you are nice about it, if you want to slander them though I don't know what would encourage them to help you out. Reasonable and calm has its benefits you know, no point having a coronary over something that can be fixed.

Thanks Jokiin, that was a typical post on this topic, lots of words, nothing new, and highly derivative of all your other posts on this topic.

You and I know that firmware is being tested and released to a select few, that's why there's a version 1.1a for the Zensonic. Which arrived very quickly when there was a bug which would've stopped people BUYING zens.

Anyway, this is pointless, I've asked on the Zensonic site, Chuna has said he won't answer questions about firmware except to say 'read the fineprint we don't have to offer upgrades'

You know when and what's been asked of Mediatek, we don't, this is apparently not going to change. It's been like pulling teeth from day one to get any information from Zensonic apart from their new products which to be honest I just don't care about.

Obviously we will just go round in circles here to no avail, to the original poster just do a search on the Z330 for plenty of feedback both good and bad, also check the Zensonic site for plenty of feedback.

Thread closed.

I think the expectation for these products are a bit too high at times. The players are sold as when you buy them. I believe there is no contract binding saying that the manufacturers need to release firmware within a certain time frame. If you look at other expensive big brand players, you will find the firmware do not get released unless there is a major fault.

Better support such as releasing more new firmware will certainly win the confidence of the customers. Please understand the factory do not need to. They have sold these things cheap as chips. As a general rule, people will still buy their players based on the price and features, whether they release firmware regularly or not. IMHO, any firmware released for these cheap players should be considered as a bonus, as the factories can rightfully spend the fund on R&D and marketing.
