Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me what their favourite web site to buy R1 and R2 DVD's from is? Any that are reliable and competitive. I've only used Amazon.com in my time, and have always found them to be very reliable, but very expensive when compared to other places.
I was thinkin about Deepdiscountdvd.com, but have heared a few conflicting things about them.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
r32

As you see we have a thread listing our fave retailors, you might want to check out them. I have had no problems with DeepDiscount so far. Total Action Universe are very good, great customer service, fast shipping, split shipping at no extra charge.
Stay clear of Dvdimport they suck badly and Dvdsoon has really cheap prices but lately they have been really bad in their shipping and they take a long time if you have a big order for the dvds to all be in stock.

R2 I only use Bensons.

R1 I vary between TAU and absound in Canada, but for big orders of more than 2 - 3 items, I use DVD Pacific.

Hastle free with Pacific and faster delivery than TAU and absound

I don't buy many R1 DVD's these days (I used to buy a lot, but since the R4 markey picked up, I don't find it necessary)...

When I did (and I occasionally still do) I buy from dvdboxoffice, their prices are a little high but they offer free shipping to AUS, bill in Canadian or US$ and have very good service.

The problem with BoxOffice is they offer free shipping but they put it into their prices, if you go to TAU or DeepDiscount you will find the dvds cheaper even when you add on shipping.

Yeah, I realise that, but sometimes I just want to impulse buy a single DVD..and boxoffice is very convenient for that since you see the price including shipping, all at once.

Just the way my brain works, I don't mind paying a couple of $ for that.

Also, Criterion titles are typically more expensive from Canadian online stores than their American counterparts. Don't know why, might be a distribution thing.

But check out other non-Criterion titles and you'll find them cheaper at TAU and ABS vs say Amazon.com or other US based stores.

Occassionally some US stores have Criterion titles at pretty good prices. I think DVDPlanet (http://www.dvdplanet.com) had a discount recently if I recall correctly.

I don't think thats US $50 - $60, it would be $CA, which isn't too far off AU. As both stores are Canadian located, I believe. I'm probably wrong though, I'm just getting into the whole online ordering myself.
:) :)

Which shipping do you use with dvdpacific? And did you ever lost a shipment? Because according to their webpage shipping other than Courier is at your own risk :( . I`m still doubting to use them or not. Cause Global Priority shipping is nice and cheap :D.

Both Absound and TAU are in Canadian prices not USD and the cad dollar is nearly the same as Aus dollars. Have never ordered with Absound, TAU is fantastic go with them, and Tsar reckons they are slow shipping but Ive had my orderes with them only take between 10-14 days.

Yes, I`m talking about dvdpacific.com (not the aussy thingy)
This is what I found in their FAQ

Q: What happens if a shipment is lost?
A: If sent by courier you are fully insured for lost shipments up to the value of $100. If sent by USPS there is no insurance and no tracking capability. DVD Pacific cannot be held responsible for items lost within the postal system although we will assist you if this happens as best we are able. Presently the reports for lost shipments are negligible so this is a safe manner for you to order but with no guarantees. No shipment can be assumed lost until the expiration of 30 business days from time of shipment for courier and International Air Mail. 60 business days for International Surface Mail.

If they cannot be held responsible, does that mean shipping using other shipping methodes besides courier is at your own risk? Or will they take care of things properly like amazon? And how many of the dvdpacific.com uses the Global Priority mail? If possible please post a lost shipment exp with the dvdpacific.com customer service :P.
