Can anyone please confirm whether or not the pioneer dv-344 (region free
outta the box) will play an RCE disk?

Thanx.

If you tell me what an RCE disk is I might be able to try on mine...

Cheers,

I seem to remember reading when I purchased mine that RCE for this model
can be overcome by first playing a 'non RCE' disk from the same region
as the RCE disk then swapping them. I don't know if this is true or not
I have never needed to use it myself.

I remember reading that too.
FWIW I have this model player sitting on the ground not being used if
someone wants to make an offer. It's region free.

Yeah i remember hearing that too. I've got the 344, had it for quite a few
yrs, but never bought an RCE disk before. So has anyone had success with
this method for playing an rce disk?

According to that review - his player didn't play ANY R1 discs, so I'm not
surprised that it didn't play an RCE disk
As long as you get a "green dot" Pioneer, you usually should be ok
All Pioneer's I've had, could handle RCE - so I don't see a reason for this
to be different. But then I don't have this version to test on, so can't say
for sure
