Hi, I'm trying to hook up my computer sound output, as well as my tv sound output, to my tv speakers and an external monsoon sub. The setup is as follows:
1. Mini to mini connection between the computer headphones output to the subwoofer input.
2. Two RCA to mini plugs from subwoofer to two Y-splitters connected to the flat panel tv's speakers.
3. Two mini to mini connections from second terminal of Y-splitter going directly into tv's speaker inputs.
The tv's sound is just fine. The problem lies with the computer's sound; there isn't any. No output whatsoever when both tv and computer are hooked up to Y-splitter. When I disconnect the mini connection between the tv and the speakers (leaving the computer to speaker connections intact), music from my computer plays.
The sub and speakers are 4 ohms apiece. Does anyone have any clue as to what is causing this and what I can do to fix it? If any clarification is needed please let me know. Thanks for taking the time to help me!
