Hi

This micro system plays DVDs and CDs and is my first DVD player. I have no idea if it will play other regions. The front of the manual says if you buy it here in Oz it is region four and then it has a symbol with a 2,4 & 6 in it. I am assuming this means I can play these regions but not 1,3 & 5? HELP! Want to know if I should be marching it back to the shop because I was under the impression it would play all regions?? Sorry I have no idea about this sort of thing!

Well the first thing is, do you have any region 1,2 or 3 discs to try in it?
Because it seems that there are quite a few players around that are multi-region even though they say they are region 4.
(I don't think they are allowed to say that they are multi-region.)

If it isn't there may be something here (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks) that can help.

Thanks for your reply

I actually have access to a Region 2 and a 5 DVD and I will try these out. I am mainly concerned about Region 1 and I have none to try, but I would like to try one before I buy any. Do you have any idea about Region 3? I am going to Malaysia soon and wanted to know if these would play?

Thanks

By the way thanks for the link to website but unfortunately the only msg on there was someone saying they could only use Region 1 dvds in the US. Oh oh, does this mean I will only be able to use Region 4? I will try tonight, .

I wouldn't take too much notice of that.
From what I've read the US is pretty strict on multi-region and not many players there are region free.

You could still be lucky. :)
