Hi,

I have just bought a PHILIPS 9257 (singapore version 79R that supports
HDTV).

I have connected my Progressive Scan DVD to it, but the picture is
flickering as HDTV inputs accept only 50 or 60 Hz and the digtal options and
all other picture adjustments are turned off when you connect through HDTV
inputs. The picture is generally fine, but is flickering.

To get 100 Hz I connected my DVD through a cheap S-video cable, I was just
wondering if I can get better picture through component (not HDTV, but
regular 3 cable component). Is S-Video worse or better than component ?

Cheers,

przemo

This is pretty much standard for all HDTV's, if connected via progressive
scan or HDTV you lose the picture scanning options. If the flicker is that
bad, try turning off progressive on the DVD player.

Have you got the DVD player set to prog. scan and connected thru the S-video
outputs ?

Prog. scan only works thru components outputs.

Try switching off the 100Hz scanning.
