View Full Version : Cature card for digital tv
I saw one back a few months ago that allowed you to put a card in and it
would pick up foxtel/austar (with the normal foxtel/austar card) anyone know
what the name of it is?

There are numerous DVB-S PC sat cards available that have CI slots for
use with Irdeto CAMs.
The 2 most common models for PCs are the 2 Hauppauge models and the
Twinhan Sat-CI card. From experience I can only recommend the Hauppauge
Nexus rather than the Twinhan.
These cards will work fine with a valid Austar card or old red Foxtel
sat card and Irdeto CAM, but not the current blue Foxtel sat card which
no longer uses Irdeto encryption.

Not sure if this is what you meant, but if you are connecting your foxtel STU to a HTPC, this card (http://www.iln.com.au/?page=pv258t&cat=specs) works great for me.

That card is just an analog TV card with an mpeg encoder for external
analog signals. The original post was asking for a digital decoding card
that uses the original subscriber card to decode signals like the
Hauppauge Nexus sat card. Re-encoding the Foxtel analog output from the
STU into mpeg2 format produces significantly inferior image quality over
decoding the DVB data stream directly.
