I want to buy an 6.1 Tuner Amp that has at least 2 x Component inputs, 2 x Optical, Bass & Treble control, video switching and upsampling of Video S to Component if possible, (my speakers are all 100W per ch at 8oms) what would the experts advise?

You should be able to get a Yamaha RX-V1400 for that kind of money...

While the majority of your required specs would fit within your budget, to get video up conversion, you may need to pay a little more.
The previous poster recommended the Yamaha RX-V1400 .. it is listed here for $1495 which is a bit outside your price range but well worth the extra money as RRP is $2300.

The sony STR DA3000 has upconversion to component for $1399 (RRP $2300), but if you want to buy this go and listen to one as these use digital amplication which sounds different to normal analogue amplication. http://www.cabramattahifi.com.au/store/product_info.php?cPath=157_191&products_id=349
There is also the marantz 7400 at $1599 (RRP $2400)with video conversion

Some great bargains out there.

both the 4500 and 5500 model have upconversion, but usually there is a long delay between what is released in europe and australia. Over the next 12 months all decent receivers will have upconversion as standard.

Any other Brands/Models you would recommend?
Cheers...

Bass/Treble controls are built into the menu system (a little bit of a pain if you want to adjust them regularly). I have no other suggestions apart from if you really need upconversion for the price you want to pay you may need to wait a little longer unless you can find a great bargain out there.

If you decide on the Marantz, find a "Good guy's Store" and go in with cash
money, you will not get a better deal.
Have you considered Denon, There's some good deals to be had, also traded
gear, from people like Audioconnection, on Parramatta Road, Leichhardt. If
you want something considerably better quality
then Hardly Normal would sell you

However this unit doesn't offer upconversion to component.
