Hi all,

Can anyone give me some advice on what TV I should purchase for myself. It
is going in my bedroom and replacing my outdated model. It will be about
2.6 - 2.7 meters from my head and it needs to be able to hook up to my tuner
through the output which then subsequently hooks up to all my other devices.

Video or S plug for the DVD and audio out R and L are also necessary to hook
up to the infer red head phones.

My current TV is 42 cm wide * 32 cm high and 52 cm angle to angle. I am not
sure if I should go slightly bigger?

I don't run surround sound as I have invested more money into better
speakers for stereo sound which also obviously runs through the video
channel if I so desire.

I plan to spend up to $3,000 and have absolutely no idea where to with all
the latest technology out there. If anyone knows where the best place for
value for money is that would also be appreciated - I live in Melbourne.
Would tend to check out Retrovision, The Good Guys and JB Hi Fi on Nepean
Highway however other recommendations would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Warren

There are some threads you should read over here (http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showforum=6)

like this (http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=10704) one.

My vote is with the Panasonic Tx86pw200a or the newer 300a (I know little about the pricing or info about this newer one)

You should be able to scrape under the $3000 by $100-200

BTW - try Dick Smith Powerhouse - In Sydney they seem to give the most competitive prices on the panasonics

I have a Panasonic 200a 76cm widescreen in the bedroom with a similar
viewing distance and find it an ideal size. Prior to this I had a 59cm 4:3,
so with the WS it is the same size picture in 4:3 and just wider. Coupled
with a Toshiba s25 STB, Foxtel Digital and Panasonic E-50 DVD-R is is quite
a good setup.

In Melbourne I like JB, Powerhouse and the Good Guys Blackburn (Total Home
Entertainment) but there are many good dealerships so go with your
favourite.

Price LCD

Warren,

If you are going for *big* screens, make sure the dvd player supports
progressive scan *and* that the screen has a vertical resolution greater
than 720 pixels.
Otherwise, if your budget does not allow for that, and since you are
watching from close, go for smaller screens (55 to 66 cm max)

In any case do not go for cheap, big, low resolution and poor scanning
Plasma/LCD screen. While you may enjoy the size the first few minutes,
you may regret it...

One more thing: make sure to compare before you buy ;-)
