I was just watching C.O.P.S. on Fox8 and saw this:

Dude walking along the road with a knife, not threating anyone

5 cops following behind him about 3 to 4 metres away, pointing weapons at
him, yelling for him to throw the knife down.

He yells back "You want to kill me"

Cops reply "No we don't" (What's with the guns then?)

This goes on for about 5 minutes. Eventually most cops lower their weapons.

Dude continues walking with one annoying cop talking at him.

At one point dude looks as if he might hurt himself with the knife.

How do the cops stop him from hurting himself?

I don't bother with the COPS episodes that they show on FOX8 - they're
ancient (from around 1996). The episodes that are (sometimes) on Channel 10
are much better and newer (2003).
